As a social service to our community and the development of our passion to share the opportunity for other individuals to play cricket, we run a development program at the centre. This is the HCDC Development Programme.
Through highly generous donations from various organisations (Our Sponsors) we have been able to obtain quality cricket equipment at the centre which has allowed us the opportunity to give disadvantaged children in the Helderberg surroundings the chance to come down and play some cricket at the HCDC.
Each week we have children from SOMERSET WEST METHODIST Primary, UMNQOPHISO Primary School and KHANYOLWHETHU Secondary School come down in groups and have some fun in making use of all our Cricketing facility's offerings. We transport the children to and from the centre, and give them personalised, professional coaching.
Before The HCDC undertook this initiative no cricket was played in the Lwandle township, so we are proud of this outreach for the game! Both Umnqophiso and Khanyolwhethu are from this area. It is a healthy initiative which we hope will drive the enthusiasm and ambition of our Development Programme children to get outside and play a game of cricket with their mates.
As a result of this we also have the Umnqophiso and Khanyolwethu Schools representing us as HCDC Development Teams, who play friendly cricket matches against other teams, while Somerset West Methodist play competitively against other local schools.
To further our outreach to potential sponsors, we are always looking for donations and sponsorship for this programme. For more information on Sponsorship and Donation opportunities, please feel free to contact us!
